Wes Lui
SVP, Business Development, Animation – WildBrain & House of Cool
Wes Lui is Senior Vice President, Business Development, Animation at WildBrain and House of Cool, where he spearheads growth across the companies’ animation businesses. In this role, Wes is responsible for driving business development strategy, identifying new partnership opportunities, and expanding the animation service slate across television and feature film for both Wildbrain and House of Cool production entities. He works closely with creative, studio, and production leadership to align commercial strategy with creative ambitions—supporting the development, financing, and packaging of premium animated projects for partners worldwide.
Since co‑founding House of Cool, Wes played a key role in securing high‑profile service productions and partnerships, including the Paw Patrol movies 1, 2 and 3 (Paramount/Spin Master); What If (Disney/Marvel); Maya and the Three (Netflix); Next Gen (Netflix); the award‑winning Guillermo del Toro series Trollhunters (DreamWorks/Netflix); and The Book of Life (20th Century Fox). His deal‑making expertise and strategic relationships with major studios and independents have helped position House of Cool—and now WildBrain—as a trusted partner for premium animation development and pre‑production across the global marketplace.
Prior to co-founding House of Cool, Lui held investment positions in the top financial institutions in Canada (TD Canada Trust, Bank of Montreal, and CIBC Wood Gundy) and a finance position at VFC Inc., helping the company go public on the Toronto Stock Exchange.
A strong advocate for high‑end animated feature and series production in Canada, Wes is actively involved in industry leadership and policy. He serves on the Board of Directors of the Computer Animation Studios of Ontario (CASO), a non‑partisan, not‑for‑profit organization focused on strengthening Ontario’s animation and VFX sector. He has previously served as President and Co‑Chair of CASO, and in 2020 was nominated to the Board of Directors of FilmOntario, an industry consortium representing more than 35,000 screen‑based industry professionals across the province.
Wes holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Wilfrid Laurier University.
